Paris - Day 5

Day 5 in Paris we visited the Musee d'Orsay.
We stood in a very short line to get in - thanks to our museum passes.  Our first stop was the Impressionist part of the museum.  Prior to our trip, my sister had given the little girls an assignment.  They needed to do a little research on some of the artists in the museum and their style of painting.  The girls could recognize a Cezanne vs. a Cassat vs. a Monet vs. a van Gogh vs. a Saurat.  It was so fun to see their excitement as they identified the artist without looking at the placard by each painting.  This was another place we visited that did not allow photographs - although I did manage to sneak in one picture as we were leaving!
After a quick lunch, we made our way to our next stop.......Notre Dame.
I had to take a picture of the parking lot across the street for my oldest son.  I knew he would appreciate the very popular Parisian mode of transportation.
The line to get into Notre Dame was very long but it moved very quickly - it was well worth the short wait.

Notre Dame is very close to another Paris landmark.......The Luxembourg Palace with its fabulous gardens. These gardens were packed with other people having a picnic, reading a book, lounging in the sun, enjoying the fountains.  It was a very peaceful place.

A wonderful way to end a very busy day!

"Paris...is a world meant for the walker alone, for only the pace of strolling can take in all the rich (if muted) detail."  -Edmund White
