Cute Christmas Bulb

This idea works great for small children.  It's a quick and easy craft but makes a lasting memory!  When my son was in kindergarten, his wonderful teacher had each child make these as a gift for their parents.  I think this would be a great gift not only for parents but for grandparents too.
These make look like funny little snowmen - why would this be such a sentimental gift???  It's how the snowmen are made that makes me take special care of this ornament.

If you're going to make these at home, what you'll need is glass Christmas bulbs, paint, a permanent marker, ribbon for a hanger and the special tag (made on plain white paper which was then laminated).

Take the metal piece out of the top of the Christmas bulb - you will see why in a minute.  The next step is to paint the palm of your child's hand with white paint.  Then have them gently cup the glass Christmas bulb in his/her hand.  Make sure he/she keeps their fingers spread out.  His/her fingers will become the little snowmen.

To dry the bulb, set it gently on its' end OR stick it on a pencil propped up in a candle holder.  Once it dries let your child use paint and the permanent marker to create the little snowmen.

Let it dry completely then spray with a little acrylic and let your child sprinkle it with colorful glitter.  Add the ribbon and the little tag.
I get teared up every time I read this tag.  The son who made this in kindergarten is now taller than me and his hand is much larger than mine!
