Flower Photo Album

I have another quick and easy project that would make a great Mother's Day gift for a mom or a grandma.  I made one for my mom and my grandma, and this year I made one for myself to put up at my desk at work.  Here are the simple steps in creating a unique mini photo album.

Using a piece of cardboard, trace a petal shape approximately 6 to 7 inches in length and cut it out.
Repeat this process 5 to 6 times.
Choose a variety of colored paper.  You will need colors for the front and back of the petals as well as paper for a center piece for the front and back of the flower.
Trace the petals onto the colored paper and cut it out.
Use a glue stick or double sided tape and attach the paper to the cardboard petal.
Trim the paper around the cardboard.

Do the same on the back side of the petal.
Here's what you should have.
Use a hole punch to make a hole in the end of the petal.  The hole should be about 1 inch away from the tip.
Match the holes and push a brad through.
Open the brad on the backside.
This is how it should look on the front side.
Next, find a circular object about 2 inches in diameter.  Trace it on a piece of cardboard and cut it out.
Trace this circle on to a colored piece of paper for the center of the flower (a circular piece will also be needed to cover the back of the flower.  Cut it out and glue it to the cardboard.
Place glue on the back of the brad.  Make sure you only get glue on the end of the brad and the petal this brad is attached to.  See my "glue picture" for details.
Place the circle on the back side of the flower.
Spread glue on the top circle.
Sprinkle glitter into the glue and shake off the excess.
Put glue on the top of the brad and only the top petal.  Again, see the picture for details.
Place the glitter circle into the glue.
Here is what the flower should look like.
Add photographs to each petal.
At this point, you can embellish the petals however you'd like.
Fold the petals together and they will fit in an envelope.
Unfolded it makes a great gift!
I can't wait to put mine up at work!
